Trouble in Moth World:

Here's my final project for character design class! We had to design a hero, a villain, a minion, and a mentor for a "fish out of water" esque story.

Astronaut Jeff is a space cartographer that crash-lands on Moth Planet. All the moth people want him to kill the evil queen, which is kind of a problem as he is a strict pacifist.

Queen Velrusa is also a foreigner to Moth Planet, having arrived there many years prior as her first stop towards her conquest of the galaxy. She slowly gathering resources to build an unstoppable army, but until then she has been subjugating the local moth people. Feared for her vicious attitude, Velrusa has a predisposition toward violence.

Hawkley is Queen Velrusa's right hand moth-person. He's a brute and not very smart, but is pretty good at doing Velrusa's dirty work. He never does a job completely right though, and its a wonder that Velrusa still puts up with him.

King Radley was the old ruler of Moth Planet before Velrusa arrived and usurped him. He now lives as an exile in the wilds, evading capture from Velrusa's followers and occasionally starting a ruckus. Pretty spry for an old moth guy, King Radley is a trickster at heart and wise beyond his moth years. He later lends Astronaut Jeff some choice advice about resisting peer pressure and standing by your morals.

Forestwalker:

A collaboration with USC and LCAD students to make an iPad game!

My responsibilities involved concepting out all of enemies for the game and arranging the final product in Adobe Flash to hand off to the animator. I also illustrated the storyboard sequence for the trailer.

Threadbare Colony Project:

These are four concepts (a weapon, a machine, a building, and a furniture item) that all belong to the same premise.

Premise: On its way to its ideal planet destination, the large colony ship Veritas suffered some damages and made a pit stop on a nearby planet. Intending to only stay long enough to make repairs and acquire resources, a limited amount of the Veritas' supplies were taken and used to build a few outposts and external cities.
What was meant to be a temporary stop drags on for over a century. The colony ship Veritas is still not ready and the structures built when they first arrived have fallen into disarray. The colonists split into two warring factions: one side that wants more of the ship's resources to improve living conditions on the planet they're already on, and another side that wants to save the supplies for when they arrive at the ideal planet they were headed to.

With limited access to weaponry and conflict steadily rising, some colonists turned to creating weapons out of tools for self-defense. This pistol is built from the parts of a plasma welder, and can turn the common welding fuel into lethal projectiles. Its inaccurate, but does its job.

Powering the remote outposts and towns are long cables that run back to the colony ship. Substations can be found along these power lines gathering atmospheric data, pinpointing damaged areas of cable, and stabilizing energy.

This large church and meeting hall has fallen to shambles over the years. It has seen many repairs meant to return it to its former glory, but to no good effect.

 And a bench!
